Meet Dr. Jim King
“Dentistry and loving care for my clients has been my passion throughout my career. I believe dentistry has far more to offer people than just repaired teeth. The treatment we provide contributes to the health and integrity of the entire chewing system. Restoring biologic function for people also adds immeasurably to long-lasting health and well-being. It is exciting to be involved on a daily basis with offering life-changing services to the friends we call our dental clients.
Headache and migraine therapy using the TruDenta® system is a logical extension of the philosophy that has always been central to our practice vision. To the extent that current knowledge has allowed, we have been involved with providing a ‘peaceful household’ experience to our clients in the area of maintaining the integrity of the temporomandibular joints and facial muscles since 1967.

Education and Experience
After graduation from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in 1965, Dr. Jim King entered active duty in the U.S. Air Force, serving at March AF Base in Riverside, CA. Following two years of service to his country, Dr. King established a private practice in Santa Barbara, CA where he continues to practice today.
Continuing education has always been a guiding factor in Dr. King’s dental practice; he has been committed to staying on the leading edge of dental knowledge and service for over 40 years. Dr. King has been a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, an organization that stresses continuing education for its membership, since 1976. The major objective of this practice has been the integrity of harmony and balance in the entire chewing system. The emphasis on treating the causes of temporomandibular joint dysfunction has been an ongoing part of the practice since early in 1968.

Outside the Office
Originally from Lincoln, NE, Dr. King and his wife, Peggy, have been residents of Santa Barbara since 1967. They have three adult children, the youngest of whom is Dr. Jon King, a partner in the King Dental Group. Their oldest son is a priest in the Orthodox Christian church and lives in Michigan, and their daughter is a CPA and the business manager for a private girls’ school in Los Angeles. Dr. King’s personal passion is spending quality time with his family, and especially being able to observe and appreciate the sports and artistic accomplishments of all eight grandchildren.
In addition to being a dentist, Dr. King is also an Arch-priest in the Orthodox Christian church. Not being the pastor of an individual parish, he serves throughout the year by substituting for priests over the southwestern U.S. who are on vacation or have personal duties that take them away from their responsibilities on Sundays. Dr. King feels blessed to have this opportunity to serve God in this capacity.
